Local-only Backup

  • High-risk;  If there is a power outage, storm, or severe weather, total data loss is possible
  • Not easily scalable for more data or less data space

Cloud-only Backup

• Pros:
  • Safe and secure
  • Affordable for most people
  • Can easily be scaled to more or less data storage
  • Always available (as long as you have internet)
  • Great for all size networks
• Cons:
  • Somewhat fast internet is required
  • Can get expensive with the more data storage you need
  • No ease of access for files and folders
  • Backup\Restore process takes a long time
  • Always needs an internet connection

Hybrid Backups

• Pros:
  • Uses a local BDR to host the files for quick and easy access
  • Low maintenance
  • Use of hardware gives the ability to compress backups before they enter the cloud, saving time and money
  • Always ready; Keeps constant backups locally and in the cloud for redundancy
  • Expandable storage;  Data storage locally can be matched to the cloud with just a swap of hard drives
• Cons:
  • Requires an internet connection
